The Pearls' creepy courtship and honeymoon (Micheal Pearl Part 2)

I am so tickled to see Zsuzsanna Anderson critiquing Michael and Debi Pearl's books.  The look on her face in the video when she reads the part where Michael mentions his wife complaining about the shells on the beach hurting her bare feet. 

Watercolor Mixing Chart tutorial

Really great video from Mr. Otter Art Studio that shows you how to make a color mixing chart.  She uses a simple kids' Prang set, but you can use any set. 

Great exercise for beginners.  (And advanced folks.) 

Doing some updating....

Because I have been sorely lacking this blog.  I think I have too many to keep up with.  I have a Facebook, a LiveJournal, a Dreamwidth, a Wordpress and I just got a notice from InsaneJournal. 

I need to make a habit of creating the entry first, then uploading it into the different formats. 

And my mind is running around and around like a hamster on a wheel about the possibility of needing a hysterectomy.   Sigh...  Wish the state of Texas had taken the Medicare expansion.  I really don't think I can afford this. 

Plus I also help Dad with Mom, and if I have a hysterectomy, I will be unable to lift anything for 6 weeks.  So definitely can't help Dad lift Mom.  And we shift her position several times everyday, and lift her up the bed at least once a day, because she slides down it.  

I need to contact health and human services, to see if I would qualify for anything.  Both my workplaces say I can only get FMLA which is unpaid. 

And I'm still not sure Dad understands what's going on.  

I have also become so absent minded over the past month or so, it's crazy.  

Results of pottery class.

 

Wow, it's been a while since I posted.  

Just posting to show off some pottery. 


This first one is after an early Jomen style pot I saw online.  In the museum, it had a little wire display to hold it upright.  I attempted to make one in class, but they kept falling apart.  Ended up using a chuck to send it through the final firing.  

 

 It was meant to boil things in, so I'm assuming that the original makers would have set it into a firepit or a pit with hot ashes. 

 

Inspiration for this next pot was from a book on Pueblo and Hopi pottery.  There were some that were very simple minimalist forms / decoration.   

 

Inspiration for this bowl is Mimbre.  Though the Mimbre never decorated the bottoms of their bowls.  I don't think they put feet on them either.  

 

 

Also another "after the Mimbres" bowl, this time it has a 'kill-hole'. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And a rattle, with a 'base' so that it sounds prettier than a rattle with no extension.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Plain little small bowl, with 'horseapple' texture on the underside.
